I've read that fermented foods have are a good source of B12-like Kimchi, tempeh, yogurts, tofu, along with mushrooms and other fungi type plants. This was not mentioned-but I believe these are good for B12-however-I do take vitamins with B12 so I know I'm getting what I need.

Another way of looking at B12 is that it's grown off bacteria for us to eat making it a reliable, safe source. We are just farming it from bacteria, like humans farm animals and plants. It's not fake, synthetic, inferior. We are smart enough now to be vegans, humans have been vegetarian for centuries but now we can be vegan because we are smart enough to farm bacteria for reliable, safe cruelty free sources of B12. The whole natural argument is logically a fallacy but many people are still hung up on it. I think with careful wording you can make people feel much more comfortable with the concept of B12. Using words like synthetic, supplement, only comes from animals imply the an omnivore diet is healthier, needed and a vegan diet is fake and inferior. This isn't true as vegetarianism has been fine for centuries, B12 does exist in soil and poo, humans can't eat them without significantly increasing chances of getting sick so we are now smart enough to farm bacteria for reliable, safe, cruelty free B12 thus making veganism perfectly healthy in our day and age. Anyway my advice is to have a section somewhere in vegan outreach on the concept of natural and logical fallacy etc etc and also discussion of words used etc in order to educate people and make people feel more comfortable. I have met too many people that hang onto ignorance of the natural fallacy and wording such as synthetic, supplement in order to justify their money support and consumption of animals and their products.

Gail,

Here is a short page on how various herbivorous animals get vitamin B12:

Gail,

I understand your view, but I've seen little evidence proving that the B12 in the soil is the form of B12 that is active for humans. Here's more information on that: http://www.veganhealth.org/b12/plant#orgpro
