Since writing the above I’ve googled it. They are no longer offering further purchases but all rainforest land bought under the scheme is being protected;

I bought an acre of rainforest there in the 1990s to prevent it being destroyed as part of the “Programme for Belize”, but I don’t know if the scheme is still running.
