This is good advice, but I find it doesn’t speak to the hardest things in my work life. For example, my office hires pest control, who lay heinously cruel glue traps.

Or the way that it isn’t enough to eat animals, but my office must also laugh about it constantly (e.g. by insisting on Bacon Ipsum rather than some generic nonsense generator).

In other words, I manage personal interactions just fine. What drives me mad, and what I don’t understand, is conflict at the organizational level.

Very well written post. I wish I had a bumper sticker that quotes you (from your inspiration Dr. Melanie Joy)-

Vegan – planting seeds of the truth that will hopefully inspire others to make a change in their own lives.

I will try and find Dr. Joy’s presentation on line to keep on the positive track of things, I too want to be vocal, but in a positive, non-threatening way.

This is a great blog! While I’m a work-from-home mama now, back when I was transitioning to veganism, I had a job in an office and had a hard time dealing with co-workers comments. I felt like the outcast and didn’t know how to respond when people asked me about my lifestyle choices. This is a great reminder that we should set a good example and be open to talking, instead of getting defensive and taking things personally. Thanks for sharing!

This is a great post! I struggle with this issue every day in my workplace. I work with folks who think I’m one of the strangest people they’ve ever met, because I’m vegan. Some people are truly baffled by my compassion toward animals. Thanks for reminding me that staying positive is the best way to handle this.
