Try this simple cashew cheese sauce—perfect for nachos or your go-to pasta dish!
Ingredients
- 1-½ cups raw cashews
- ¾ cup water
- ¼ cup nutritional yeast
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp turmeric powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp pepper
- 2 tbsp lemon or lime juice
Instructions
- Cover the cashews with boiling water and let sit for a minimum of 15 minutes.
- Drain the cashews and add them to a blender or food processor.
- Add all the other ingredients. Blend until smooth. Scrape down the sides as needed.
- The sauce will be thick. If you’d like it thinner, add water or olive oil 1 tbsp at a time until you have the desired consistency.
- Pour directly over hot, freshly cooked pasta or vegetables. Can also be heated on it’s own and served with chips or used on nachos.
