I try to avoid bone char sugar, but mainly just to keep the peace. Many vegans are apparently against it, and if I make something for a potluck or something I don't want them to feel they're compromising their ethics by eating it, or having to awkwardly refuse it.

However---and I've asked this before and never got an answer---what's the fundamental difference between eating bone char sugar and vegetables grown with organic animal manures? Do those who shun bone char sugar source their vegetables for animal-free fertilizer? I've read organically raised animals are denied anti-biotics when they get sick and they die horrible, painful deaths. Why this is any more acceptable that bone char sugar, i just don't understand.

Believe it or not I botched it the first time the recipe was posted here. I didn't read carefully and I mixed it by hand. It is super easy, but if you have dyslexia and or ADHD...

Another thing that messed me up was the pie crust. They have a plastic protective shell in them that has to be removed, and I pretty much broke up the whole crust trying to get it out. Maybe there are some tips to avoid that..

Another thing, silken tofu comes in various weights or sizes and what I found didn't correspond to the size the recipe called for. I think the recipe's was 16 oz. All I could find was 14 oz. Yes, you can do some math and adjust, but for somebody who really isn't into cooking, or math, that's enough to make you procrastinate on it.

And finally, pie crusts come in different sizes too. How important is getting the right one, or is the differential too little to worry about?

But I will try it again, and I'm pretty sure I'll do better.
